Items from back issues of the O'Fallon Progress:
? 1902: The LANGRAF Sisters are selling out their entire stock of dry goods.
April 21, 1905: Katie LANGRAF Dry Goods closing. Mrs. Louis TIEDEMANN purchased the millinery business of Katie LANGRAF.
? 1905: Louis TIEDEMANN entered the dry goods and grocery business.
April 13, 1906: Louis E. TIEDEMANN purchased the lot and building occupied by him as a grocery and dry goods store.
December 1906: Louis E. TIEDEMANN sold his mercantile business to H. E. TIEDEMANN.
February 18, 1916: H. E. TIEDEMANN sold his stock of groceries and dry good to Charles SCHAEFER, Jr. and Arthur SCHLINGER. They will open Feb. 28.
January, 1919: SCHAEFER and SCHLINGER retired from the grocery store and sold out their stock.
January 8, 1920: Mrs. E. R. ROSEBERRY opened a restaurant in the Henry TIEDEMANN Building.
November 3, 1921: Phil HENRY, Jr. is to open a grocery store in the TIEDEMANN Building, formerly the LAUERMAN Restaurant. (This building ?)
September 26, 1923: David SCHWARTZ opened a "Del Monte" Store in the H. E. TIEDEMANN Building.
January 28, 1926: John ROCK opened a Cash & Carry Grocery Store at State and Vine.
April 11, 1929: John R. ROCK had the entire interior of his E. State Street Store remodeled.
July 7, 1932: John ROCK died at the age of 39.
September 1, 1932: Mrs. Winnie ROCK moved the merchandise from the ROCK's Grocery Store at 112 W. State Street to her other store at this location.
January 6, 1938: Willa BEHRENS bought the grocery store from Mrs. Winnie ROCK. It will be known as Willa's.
May 4, 1950: Willa BEHRENS sold her store to Mrs. Clara MANTLE. It will be known as Clara's Market. Miss BEHRENS will be associated with her sister Mrs. Jessie NOLD of NOLD's Variety.
February 11, 1954: John SEIPP purchased Clara's Market. It will be known as SEIPP's Market.
October 27, 1955: The O'Fallon Assembly of God Mission - Minister, Frank MATTEA, at State and Vine.
December 4, 1958: Grand opening of Lou's Custom Floors - Louis FEHER, owner.
March 18, 1965: The O'Fallon Aquarium is moving into the space formerly occupied by Lou's Custom Floors. (Charles L. FRY).
April 12, 1973: KOCH Family Natural Foods, Inc. is opening Friday.
April 16, 1981 (ad): Metro East Communications.
November 10, 1983: SCHOLL's Corner Snack Shop now open.
August 8, 1987: Rudolph and Tricia SCHOLL asked for a vending license to establish a vending arcade at 129 E. State St.
November 12, 1987: State Street Thrift shop opened.
October 24, 1991: State Street Thrift Store, Durk PEARSON and Sandy SHAW.
August 13, 1993 (ad): Everything must go. State Street Thrift Shop, 129 E. State.
August, 1993: Rudolph SCHOLL sold building to Yu Hua STEWART.
September 29, 1993: Eva's Fashions opens at 129 E. State. Ribbon cutting.
Note: When they were renovating the building they found a Hires Root Beer Sign painted on the East outside wall. It was painted between 1946 and 1950 and repainted about 1968 by McMANEMY Signs.
November 20, 1997: Fortuna Consignors will open at 129 E. State - resale venture by Elizabeth STEBBINS, owner. (Eva's Fashions is still located in a part of the building).
